BRTK Broadcasting History Museum
The BRTK Broadcasting History Museum was established under the Bayrak Radio Television Corporation (BRTK), the state broadcasting organization of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, with the aim of documenting the historical development of broadcasting among the Turkish Cypriot community. The museum exhibits technical equipment used in radio and television broadcasting from the 1960s to the present day, along with archival documents, old broadcast recordings, and photographs. In this respect, the museum highlights both the institutional history of BRTK and the importance that the Turkish Cypriot society has placed on communication and broadcasting during challenging periods.
Beyond displaying historical materials, the museum also functions as a space of collective memory that emphasizes the social and cultural role of broadcasting. Through occasional exhibitions and events, visitors are introduced to the significance of broadcasting history from various thematic perspectives, transforming the museum into a dynamic and evolving cultural venue. The museum aims particularly to introduce media history to younger generations and to contribute to the preservation of social memory.
