Dr. Fazıl Küçük Museum

Dr. Fazıl Küçük Museum

The Dr. Fazıl Küçük Museum is located within the walled city of Nicosia and was established in memory of Dr. Fazıl Küçük, who was elected as the first Vice President of the Republic of Cyprus. The museum is housed in a two-story building constructed in 1925 from cut yellow stone, which originally belonged to the Küçük family. The ground floor of the building was used as a medical consultation room from 1939 and operated as a clinic between 1940 and 1958, while the upper floor served as a residence. Until 1958, the building also functioned as the resistance headquarters of the Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT) and, from 1942 until Fazıl Küçük’s death, as the administrative office of the Halkın Sesi newspaper. The building was converted into a museum on March 14, 1997, becoming the first private museum in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The museum displays personal belongings of Fazıl Küçük, gifts he received, and household items he used, along with historical documents from the period. The two-story structure serves as a space illustrating Küçük’s life, professional work, and his efforts on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot community. Today, it functions as an important cultural center for those wishing to learn more about Fazıl Küçük’s life and legacy.
