
Herbarium and Natural History Museum
The Cyprus Herbarium and Natural History Museum, which is open to visitors on the Near East University Campus, is a museum that presents the biological diversity and geological history of Cyprus within a scientific framework.
The museum displays 11,000 plant specimens representing approximately 1,600 plant species found in Cyprus. This collection includes 140 endemic species unique to Cyprus, as well as 19 plant species native to the Kyrenia (Beşparmak) Mountains. In addition, the museum houses 106 species of fungi belonging to three different groups, 250 algae specimens, 23 reptile specimens, insect collections from various taxonomic orders, and marine organisms.
