Walled City Museum

The Nicosia Walled City Museum, is a museum located in Nicosia that was opened to visitors on 15 November 2020 as part of the Republic Day celebrations. The museum aims to document and present the historical, cultural, and artistic heritage of Nicosia and Cyprus. The ceilings of the building feature depictions of the 20 July 1974 Peace Operation and the conquest of Nicosia, while bronze sculptures are displayed at the entrance.

The museum’s collection includes oil and acrylic paintings, original prints, engravings, photographs, sculptures, and ceramic works depicting Nicosia and Cyprus. The inventory also comprises a toy car collection consisting of thousands of pieces, examples of swords and knives, maritime history objects, Karagöz shadow puppets, as well as Ottoman-era artifacts such as decrees, imperial edicts, qadi court records related to Nicosia, and carpets dating back to the 17th century. In addition, silicone sculptures representing individuals who hold an important place in the cultural life of the Turkish Cypriot community are exhibited as part of the museum.
